Academic Policy !
The College follows a rigorous academic training programme throughout the year. Students are expected to attend all classes, labs and seminars. A big part of the students’ academic life at the College is the continuous testing method employed by the College. A student’s academic performance throughout the year has an important bearing on the allocation of internal marks in the final university examination.
1. CAT, Semester and Final Exams:
The college conducts a monthly Continuous Assessment Test (CAT) of all its students. It is mandatory for all students to appear in the CAT as it will provide them with much needed final examination practice. It also helps in identifying weak subject areas of the students that may need more studying or training. At the end of every three months, a Semester exam is conducted by the College. It tests the accumulative knowledge that the students have gained in the previous three months. Attendance in Semester exam is mandatory.
Before the final year end exam, a final year internal exam is conducted by the College. It is mandatory for all students to appear and do their best in this exam as the marks scored in this exam will determine the internal marks allocated by the College to that students’ academic record for that year.
2. Communication skills:
The College also encourages the students to participate in activities that improve their communication skills. Presentations are the main module through which the students are expected to participate and improve on their communication and presentation skills.
3. Guest Lectures and Community Tours:
The College arranges for guest lecture by notable opinion makers in the field of health and other related disciplines to give the students an overall grooming and prepare them for the practical world. Community tours are arranged to different public health setups (after their third year) so that students can improve on their understanding of the real world. This enables them to be confident when faced with real world situations and makes them better health professionals in the longer run. By interaction with the community, students learn about the different chronic health problems of our society and are thus sensitized into becoming more responsible health professionals.
